The process of diagramming data flows

A data-flow diagram is a way of representing a flow of data through a process or a system (usually an information system). The DFD also provides information about the outputs and inputs of each entity and the process itself. A data-flow diagram has no control flow — there are no decision rules and no loops. Specific operations based on the data can be represented by a flowchart. Webb12 feb. 2013 · This diagram contains everything in the context diagram but also includes the major processes as well as the data flows in and out of them. The objective is to achieve a higher level of granularity. The processes illustrated here can be decomposed into more primitive/lower level DFDs. Data Flow Diagram: Level 0.

Webb24 maj 2024 · Rule 1 states that a DFD must consist of a process, a flow, a data store, and a terminator/external entity (Ibrahim & Yen, 2011). The graphical symbols for DFD components must be standard and consistent. For instance, if an analyst decides to use a circle to symbolize process, then this must be consistent throughout the DFD.
