WebOur findings provide anatomical evidence that the geniculo-cortical pathway in the mammalian visual system may use excitatory amino acid transmitters. In addition, the results support the notion that most long range connections that link distant points of the topographic map are excitatory. The tectopulvinar pathway and the geniculostriate pathway are the two visual pathways that travel from the retina to the early visual cortical areas. From the optic tract, the tectopulvinar pathway sends neuronal radiations to the superior colliculus in the tectum, then to the lateral posterior-pulvinar thalamic complex. Approximately 10% of retinal ganglion cells (mostly magnocellular) project onto the tectopulvinar pathway.

WebIn neuroanatomy, the optic radiation (also known as the geniculocalcarine tract, the geniculostriate pathway, and posterior thalamic radiation) are axons from the neurons in the lateral geniculate nucleus to the primary visual cortex. The optic radiation receives blood through deep branches of the middle cerebral artery and posterior cerebral artery.. They … WebComparison with the organization of these pathways in other primates suggests that a segregation of the retino-cortical pathways of opposite ocularities into alternating ocular dominance columns in striate cortex has developed independently in the … newer sharp projector

(A) Typical field potentials induced by applying paired-pulse stimulation at stimulus interval of 50, 100 and 1000 ms. (B) Averaged paired-pulse depression … Webvisual cortical area called the postrhinal cortex are independent of V1 and are abolished upon silencing of the SC.This area outperforms V1 in discriminating moving objects. We thus identify a collicular primary visual cortex that is independent of the geniculo-cortical pathway and is capable of motion discrimination. T interpreting fructosamine levels
